Roma students for Surovakane at BSCC Head Office on the occasion of Vasilitsa – 14.01.2020

“Bahtalo Nevo Bresh” (Happy New Year) wished a group of Roma students to H.E. Muriel Berset Kohen, Ambassador of the Swiss Federation to Bulgaria, and Mr. Boni Bonev, Chairman of BSCC Managing Board, with the ritual of Surovakane, yesterday 14 January 2020.

This year, as per tradition, Roma students visited BSCC Head Office and addressed a special greeting for health and prosperity in the New 2020. For eleven consecutive year Centre for Inter-ethnic Dialogue AMALIPE organises the celebration of the Roma New Year – Vasilitsa around the country. The children shared Bulgarian, Roma and Turkish folklore and traditions with their hosts and expressed their most precious dreams for the future.

Centre AMALIPE happily reports that because of the many efforts of teachers, students, parents and schools from the “Every student will be excellent” network, the number of dropouts of Roma students has decreased to under 1% during the 2018/2019 school year.

In line with UN Global Compact mission, BSCC commits to sustainability and takes shared responsibility for achieving a better world by joining other initiatives related to Roma inclusion.
