
Nestlé Bulgaria has officially opened a new and innovative production line at its factory in Sofia, which has been chosen to be the only production centre for KitKat chocolates in Europe.
The investment amounts to EUR 44 million. It will create 70 new jobs and increase production capacity by 20,000 tonnes. The total area is over 3,250 square metres. The equipment is state-of-the-art, producing 420 chocolates per minute.
From Sofia, the new production goes to 17 markets worldwide, including the UK, France, Italy and Canada.
A symbolic start of the new production was given by Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov, who noted the importance of the investment and defined the partnership between Bulgaria and Nestlé as strategic for the Bulgarian economy. The event was also attended by the Minister of Economy and Industry Petar Dilov, the Chairman of the Managing Board of the Bulgarian-Swiss Chamber of Commerce Boni Bonev, Rolf Ott – Deputy Head of the Swiss Mission in Bulgaria, Guillaume Le Cunff – Chief Executive Officer of Nestlé for Zone Europe and Alessandro Zanelli – Executive Director of Nestlé for the Southeast Europe market.
